Raisina Dialogue - 2024

The 9th edition of the Raisina Dialogue was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis joined the inaugural session as the chief guest.

Raisina Dialogue:

  • Started in 2016, the Raisina Dialogue is India’s premier conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics committed to addressing the most challenging issues facing the world today.
  • The conference is hosted by the Observer Research Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of External Affairs.
  • The 9th edition of the Raisina Dialogue was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
  • Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis was the Chief Guest at the inaugural session and delivered the keynote address.
  • The theme of the 2024 edition is “Chaturanga: Conflict, Contest, Cooperate, Create,” 
  • Dialogue is structured as a multi-stakeholder, cross-sectoral discussion, involving heads of state, cabinet ministers and local government officials, who are joined by thought leaders from the private sector, media and academia.

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar’s remarks on Russia, China and the West:

  • Jaishankar stressed the necessity for countries to actively involve Russia in their engagements.
    • Russia is a power with an enormous tradition of statecraft, and such powers would never put themselves into a single relationship of an overwhelming nature.
    • The world must give Russia more options, rather than “closing doors” on it and pushing it towards a closer embrace with China.
    • Minister also reaffirmed India's "stable and friendly ties" with Russia and said Russia has never hurt the interests of New Delhi. 
    • India doesn't expect Europe to have a New Delhi-centric view of China and Europe should also understand that India won't move with the European view of Russia.
