About the Vaccine:
- The vaccine ‘Havisure’ represents a significant step forward in India’s fight against Hepatitis A and is poised to make a substantial contribution to public health.
- Havisure will be manufactured at IIL’s Gachibowli plant in Hyderabad.
- It is a two-dose vaccine; first dose administered at above 12 months of age and the second at least six months after the first dose.
- IIL said the vaccine is recommended for children as part of the routine immunization as well as for individuals at risk of exposure or travel to the regions with high hepatitis A prevalence.

- Indian Immunologicals (IIL) was established by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) in 1982, as its unit, with the objective of making vaccines available to farmers at an affordable price.
