News Excerpt:
Recently, The ‘AAINA Dashboard for Cities’ portal has been made live by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
About:
- The portal, www.aaina.gov.in, serves as the platform for Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) nationwide to voluntarily submit key data regularly.
- The primary goals include
- enabling cities to compare their performance,
- inspiring improvements, and
- facilitating peer learning among Urban Local Bodies.
- The Dashboard categorizes data into five broad pillars -
- Political & Administrative Structure,
- Finance,
- Planning,
- Citizen Centric Governance, and
- Delivery of Basic Services.
- ULBs submit data, including audited accounts and self-reported performance metrics, through an easy-to-fill data entry form on the portal.
- Envisioned as a permanent platform, the AAINA Dashboard aims to create a robust database of key performance metrics for ULBs, updated regularly. Handholding support is provided to ULBs by the Ministry through Digital India Corporation as needed.
- While not ranking the ULBs, the AAINA dashboard would serve as a tool for comparing similarly placed cities and promoting peer learning among cities.
