National Bal Swachhta Mission

The well-known project "Swachh Bharat Mission" included the National Bal Swachhta Mission launch. Smt. Maneka Gandhi, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, introduced it in 2014. 

The former Indian prime minister Sri Jawaharlal Nehru's 125th birthday was celebrated with its launch. Various departments, including those in charge of schooling, clean drinking water, hygienic restrooms, and clean sanitation, assisted women and child development in simulating its implementation. 

The information and publicity departments are also included.
It aims to raise awareness of the importance of cleanliness and to inspire students to keep their homes, schools, and public spaces clean. 

The National Bal Swachhta Mission's goals are:

With the following goals in mind, it was started: 

  • tidy Anganwadi
  • better environmental conditions, like playgrounds
  • The health of children and personal hygiene
  • Healthy food
  • clean, properly filtered water for drinking
  • proper hygiene, including spotless restrooms 

Eligibility for the National Bal Swachhta Mission:

The following organizations and people are eligible to participate in the National Bal Swachhta Mission: 

  • Indian government schools
  • Anganwadis
  • The levels of the State, District, Blocks, and Gram-Panchayats. 

The theme of the Bal Swachhta Mission week:   

From November 14 to November 19, 2014, a 6-day program called the Bal Swachhta Mission Week was held, with a different initiative undertaken each day.

  • "Clean Schools, Surroundings, and Play Area" was the theme of November 14.
  • The concept of "Clean Food" served as the foundation for November 15.
  • "Clean Self" served as the theme for November 17.
  • "Clean Drinking Water" served as the theme for November 18.
  • The theme of "Clean Toilet" was used on November 19.

Implementation of the National Bal Swachhta Mission:

The Women and Child Development department implemented the National Bal Swachhta Mission to mimic the following goals: 

  • Education in Schools
  • Drinking-Water 
  • Information
  • Sanitation
  • Publicity
  • Urban Development

Benefits of the National Bal Swachhta Mission:

  • To instill in children the value of keeping their surroundings clean, this mission aims to teach kids about hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Through children, the importance of cleanliness will be conveyed to adults, empowering them to uphold cleanliness in their immediate surroundings.
  • If the environment is clean, diseases will not spread, and everyone will be healthy. 
  • If children are raised to eat a healthy diet, drink clean water, and use clean facilities, they may not contract any diseases in the future.
