It's never too late! This is true for IAS exams also. Although when someone becomes an IAS officer at the age of 32, the possibility to get promoted to Secretary level is a bit less. But you can enjoy the initial years in rural and underdeveloped areas because there the chances to showcase your skills are immense. In the initial years, candidates are given the posting in rural and village areas. The scope of development there is big enough to experiment with your plans and policies. When an IAS reaches the position of the secretary, it becomes similar to a private desk job. Joining the civil service at the age of 30 aids in better administrative planning because your experience makes a lot of difference in a decision of fresh blood and experienced personnel.

It's Never Too Late!

There is no wrong time to do the right thing. Same is the case here. You can pursue IAS examination anytime, provided that the upper age limit for appearing in IAS examination is 32 years.
