The salary of an IAS officer when he/she joins the service after his/her probation period on his/her first posting is fixed at Level 10 of Pay Matrix under the 7th Pay Commission. The starting salary is Rs 56,100 as the base salary along with Dearness and House Rent Allowance which makes it lump sum close to Rs 80,000. There is an annual increment as per grade pay which ranges from Rs 5400 to 7600. The pay of a Government servant does not remain static. An employee starts with a particular pay commonly referred to as ‘initial pay’ then journeys through periodical increases referred to as ‘increments’ to reach the highest point that he/she is entitled to which is the ceiling. As an IAS, the initial pay is 56,100 along with the allowance and through the increments, you can reach the ceiling of 2,50,000.
