CSAT stands for Civil Services Aptitude Test in the UPSC examination. SCAT paper have total 80 questions have 200 marks, thus each question is of 2.5 marks. The CSAT paper is of qualifying nature.

CSAT stands for Civil Services Aptitude Test in the UPSC examination. SCAT paper have total 80 questions have 200 marks, thus each question is of 2.5 marks. The CSAT paper is of qualifying nature. The minimum qualifying standards in this Paper is 33%.The Preliminary examination is comprised of two compulsory papers of 200 marks each. Both the question papers are of objective type and are multiple choice questions. The question papers are set in Hindi and English.

The syllabus of the CSAT examination includes-Comprehension;
Interpersonal skills including communication skills; Logical reasoning and analytical ability; Decision-making and problem-solving; General mental ability;
Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.);(Class X level);Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. - Class X level);English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).

The preliminary Examination is meant to serve as a screening test only. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination by the candidates, who are declared qualified for admission to the Main Examination, are not counted for determining their final order of merit. Only those candidates, who are declared by the Commission to have qualified in the Preliminary Examination in the year, will be eligible to appear at the Main Examination of that year provided they are otherwise eligible for admission to the Main Examination.
