Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the highest privileged and the toughest Civil Service Exam(CSE) in the country. In the IAS (UPSC CSE) exam, Millions of people appear every year but only a few can crack it. And that is why competition is increasing every year. Thus, IAS aspirants who are preparing for the  IAS (UPSC, CSE) 2022, have to be focused and aspirants who are willing to crack the IAS 2022 have to work on two major strategies : Firstly, choose the Right Books and focus on  preparation with enthusiasm. Both the factors are the key to reach the desired goal.

How and where to start the Preparation for IAS 2022 exam

1. Get aware of the Terms and Conditions, Rules, and Regulations of the exam  

• Candidates with different educational backgrounds can appear for the exam. 
• The Age Limit of the UPSC Civil Service exam: The Candidate must be a minimum of 21 years of age and must not be more than 32 years of age.

General Category & EWS: 32 years with a total of 6 attempts. OBC: 35 years with 9 attempts and SC/ST: 38 years with unlimited attempts.

2. Get aware of the Examination date  

Getting aware of the examination date will help you to create and organize the schedule for your studies. You can decide the number of hours for the studies,  according to the different subjects. And, It will help you in preparation. 

Strictly avoid appearing in exams if you are not prepared. Hence, the number of attempts is limited. If you are fresher then give your 12 to 15 months for preparation with dedication. 

3. Do introspection, why do you want to prepare? 

Give at least a bit of your time daily to introspection that why do you want to prepare. This will make you keep focused and motivated. Because, if you clear the exams in the first attempt it will take at least 1 to 2 year to complete all the procedures. Hence, this journey needs long-term motivation. 

4. How much time do you need for the preparation? 

It all depends upon how much candidates are focused on and how they are following the routine or simply we can say how they can strategize everything, what is their IAS Exam preparation strategy, whom they are following, and how fairly they divide the preparation planning for all the subjects. Ideally, a duration of12 to 15 months of time is more than enough for preparation for the subjects.

5. Work on Foundation 

UPSC syllabus level is from 8th to 12th. NCERT is not only the best for building the foundation but it is also a wonderful source of information, especially for beginners. Questions are directly asked from them and they are introductory yet informative. So, start reading in repeat mode by marking the outlines of every subject. 

6. A Thorough look at Union Budget 

UPSC prelims are always scheduled around the May last week or the June first week. And the budget is announced on the 1st of February, so there is always a high chance of questions related to the Union budget in the preliminary papers and Mains Paper both. 

7. Update yourself with everything and build a habit of reading newspapers and magazines 

An Aspirant of Civil Services must have to be updated on everything as it is the highest level service examination. And, for this what could be better than reading newspapers and magazines in both the two languages English and your optional Indian languages. 

A UPSC CSE  Aspirant should read Newspapers such as Indian Express or The Hindu and magazines, like Kurukshetra and Yojna, etc every day without skipping, to enhance reading, writing, and comprehending skills. If, Someday you are not getting the time to read completely then read at least the editorial parts.  

8. Practice for CSAT 

Candidates must practice the CSAT paper even if it is qualifying in nature. because for getting qualified in Mains students need to get marks above than 33 % or 66 marks. Hence, don’t quit practicing the CSAT paper. 

Practicing Answer writing, and revising is very important in UPSC exam preparation. But, it’s difficult to qualify if you are not doing mock-test-based preparation. 

Thus, Every topper applies some strategy to reach their goal. Without better strategic planning it’s not possible to qualify IAS, UPSC CSE exam.
