The interview round is the final round of the selection process of IAS. It is tough to put this journey in a day or two but it is for sure that it is the most thrilling and crucial part of the selection process of UPSC. This is mostly taken as a personality test that carries 275 marks. Candidates should never neglect the interview while they focus on the written exams.
Written exams pave the way to the final round interview but this final round of interviews will finally make your dream come true.
Successful candidates receive an interview call letter with details mentioned about date and time. Candidates called for interview need to fill a form called “Attestation form” filled in along with six photocopies and duly signed passport size photographs pasted on each of them and submit them to the Department of Personnel and training within 10 days of receipt of the call letter. This form must be filled carefully and very attentively as any false information would lead to disqualification. In case of any legal issues candidate must communicate immediately to the Union Public Service Commission. Union Public Service Commission office is in Dholpur House in Delhi and the interview round is conducted there.
The certificates need to be submitted are:
- Original Matriculation or equivalent marks sheet
- Higher Secondary or equivalent marks sheet
- Degree or equivalent certificate in original
- Caste certificate in original
- Differently able certificate
- Background information questionnaire duly signed in and signed by you
- Two passport size photographs (4cm*5cm approx.)
- Print Out of call letter
It is mandatory to bring all the above documents and original documents in support of their age, educational qualification, caste or category a PH status, age relaxation. And if a candidate fails to bring original documents he/she may not be allowed to appear for the interview, and no reimbursement will be given for travel allowance. The original documents will be returned after verification. If the documents are not up to the mark their candidature will be canceled at any time of the personality test.
Candidate must remember that no change or postponement of the interview date will be allowed. If by any chance candidate fails to appear to Personality Test Board on scheduled time and date, the candidate is considered absent. And it is should be noted that the candidate will not be called again for the interview and no further correspondence will be made in this regard. All the travel expenses of the candidate are born by commission (which is called Travel and Dearness allowance), the candidate has to bring travel allowance bills of onward and return journeys. For differently-abled candidate’s suitable arrangements are made and the candidate has to communicate to UPSC about the assistance details. All the required certificates and documents are required for verification at the time of the interview.
No electronic device or gadgets are allowed inside the interview hall. Violation of these instruction leads to cancellation of candidature and disciplinary action including ban from future examinations. It is advised to reach the venue well before time; there will security checking at Dholpur house by CRPF personnel. All the gadgets will be submitted at the entry gate and the entry book needs to be filled.
While finally facing the board answer the questions honestly, respect the board. Lots of tricky questions will be asked which needs to handle with sincerity. Confidence is the key to making it.
