GS Paper - II
The Supreme Court on 13 November 2024 laid down guidelines to curb demolition of people’s homes and private properties by the government “only on the ground that they are accused of a crime”. A Bench of Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan held that such actions violated the rights of the accused, including the presumption of innocence, unfairly punished the other tenants who have not been accused of anything, and violated the right to shelter under Article 21 of the Constitution of India.

Global carbon dioxide emissions, including those from burning fossil fuels, are set to hit a record high this year, pulling the world further off course from averting more destructive climate extremes, scientists said on 13 November 2024. The Global Carbon Budget report, published during the U.N.'s COP29 climate summit in Azerbaijan, said global CO2 emissions are set to total 41.6 billion metric tons in 2024, up from 40.6 billion tons last year.

The Philippines' Foreign Ministry said on 13 November 2024, it summoned China's ambassador to protest Beijing's drawing of baselines around the disputed Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea. The said baselines infringe upon Philippine sovereignty and contravene international law.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on 13 November 2024 said the soon-to-be-raised all-woman battalion of the CISF will shoulder the responsibility of protecting the nation's critical infrastructure, like airports and metro rails, and provide security to VIPs as commandos.
