Space spy squad approved

GS Paper - III

India's Cabinet Committee on Security, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given the green light for the third phase of the Space Based Surveillance (SBS-III) project. The move will see the launch of 52 spy satellites intended to enhance the country's surveillance capabilities from space amidst the security concerns with Pakistan and China. The Isro said that the project would cost around Rs 27,000 crore.

Global Hunger Index 2024

GS Paper - II

The Global Hunger Index (GHI), a tool used by international humanitarian agencies to measure and track hunger levels with GHI scores based on under-nourishment and child mortality indicators across 127 countries, has ranked India 105th, which places it under the “serious” category of the analysis.

THE UN peacekeepers at Lebanon’s border

GS Paper - II

India said it was “concerned” at the “deteriorating” security situation in parts of West Asia after two members of a United Nations peacekeeping mission operating along Lebanon’s border with Israel were injured. The UN has kept the peacekeeping force, known as UNIFIL, in southern Lebanon since 1978. Its mission is largely observational, though its mandate was expanded in 2006 at the end of the last war between Israel and Hezbollah.
